Is this network setup ok?
I am not new to networking but all these cables confuse me. I want to get a new wireless network because the current one is a piece of s***. I want to get a Linksys AM200 and a Linksys WRVS4400N I will connect them with a Cat5e Snagless UTP Patch Cable. I will then connect 1 computer to the router with another of the same cable and connect some others by WiFi. Will this work.
@hitman : I was under the impression that I was buying a modem and a router as opposed to a gateway. I thought a modem was required to access the internet through the gateway.
that network setup should work fine.
from the modem_>ethernet->wan port on router->ethernet->computer
the rest will be connected thru wireless.
just don't try to put multiple routers in line. You can't put 2 routers together, unless you are running multiple subnets. Yet that is a different story, and discussion.
