Report Card On This Season's The Ultimate Fighter Show

Another TUF finale came to end this past Saturday June 19th 2010. This marked the end of the 11th season of The Ultimate Fighter. The card featured five fights not including the bonus fight at the end where Travis Browne Stopped James Mcsweeney via TKO. The UFC chose another small location to host the TUF finale and it really did take away from the viewers at home. Sections upon sections were visibly empty throughout the event room.

The stand out fight of the night was definatly the main event. TUF season 11 winner Court McGee vs Team Lloyd Irvin Mixed Martial Arts member Kris "The Savage" McCray. Anyway, check out my take on all of the fights.

Attonito finishes Yager 2nd round TKO - Rich Attonito made his come back debut last night as the first televised fight of the night against TUF bad boy Jamie Yager. Rich Attonito was a favorite to win The Ultimate Fighter show. However he was unable to finish competing due to a hand injury. Yager on the other hand had impressive moments during some fights while on the show and ended up losing by not answering the bell before the second round. Many people were interested in this fight just for the simple fact that they either loved or hated Jamie Yager.

The fight started with Jager moving around well. Attonito took about a round to find his distance and speed. A few flush shot forced Yager to shoot a double. Attonito easily defended the take down and transitioned to Yager's back where he finished with strikes from the back mount position.

Dennis Siver beats Spencer "The King" Fisher via Unanimous Decision - Dennis Siver used his advanced stand up striking skills to outpoint a game Spencer Fisher. Even though Siver was getting the better of the two on the feet. Fisher was never out of the fight. In round 2 there was heavy exchange that sent Fisher to the ground. He immediately recovered and returned a flurry of his own. As the fight went on, Siver continued with the pressure and stole all three rounds.

Leben finds a way against Simpson via 2nd round TKO - Love him or hate him. Chris Leben is still employed by the UFC and he's getting the job done. Many people thought he was outclassed by his opponent. Aaron Simpson, a two time Collegiate All-American wrestler. Aaron Simpson took Leben down so easily that it allowed Simpson to get lazy. Leben started to fight hard in the second round forcing Simpson to engage in a wide open striking exchange. Leben floored Simpson causing him to stumble from one side of the cage to the other (much like Trevor Berbick vs Mike Tyson). The ref immediately stopped the fight.

Hamill hands Jardine "L" number 4 in a row via Majority Decision - Matt Hamill beats Keith Jardine in a slugfest that looked like it could have been a scene from Kill Bill. Eye gauging, excessive mouth guard spitting, blood splattered camera angles. This fight was a flat out brawl. I cant help but wonder how good Matt Hamill would be if he used his wrestling. He is no Kurt Angle but Matt Hamill has a very strong wrestling style that can overpower almost anyone but he chooses to stand and trade punches with everyone he fights. Jardine is known for a weird stand up style that catches people off guard. Mix that with the fact that he has lost his last three fights in a row and you have a dangerous guy. Matt Hamill must've not gotten the TPS report, because he stood right in front of Keith Jardine and took everything Jardine had and gave it right back. Matt Hamill steals the Majority Decision in true slobber knocker fashion.

McGee claims the victory against McCray via 2nd Rear Naked Choke Court McGee has been "as low as a human being could go". The former Heroin addict has been sober for many years and dedicated his victory over Team Lloyd Irvin member Kris McCray, to anyone that is in the struggle (meaning people who have drug problems). In what is a true Cinderella story, the TUF season 11 Finale had two wild card fighters. Something else that has never happened before in TUF history was Kris McCray having to fight five times in six weeks.

The finale was truly a match up with the two best guys in the house. McGee won the first round pretty convincingly and in the second round, he forced the undefeated Kris McCray to submit to a rear naked choke. Court McGee definitely won the hearts over from the fans last night and it will be interesting to see how his Mixed Martial Arts career pans out.

Intense Carbon SL – First look (Bike Radar)

Intense Cycles made their first foray into carbon fibre last year with the
Carbine. Never ones to rest on their laurels, they've now unveiled a new
super-light SL version which loses a little supension travel in return for a
full half pound of weight savings.

The new bike, first seen in prototype form at last year's Interbike trade
show, can be adjusted to give either 4.75in or 5.25in (120 or 135mm) of VPP
suspension travel and boasts a claimed frame weight of just 5lb (medium size,
with Fox RP23 shock), compared to 5.5-6in and 5.5lb for the standard Carbine.
Intense are aiming it at cross-country/light trail use.

The frame is made in the Far East from high-modulus carbon, with Germany's
SEED Engineering once again handling the layup schedules. It's not just the
mainframe and rear triangle that are made from carbon – the shock link is too,
and there's a smattering of titanium hardware elsewhere to keep weight down.

Geometry is based around a 68-degree head angle, 74-degree (effective) seat
angle and 13.1in bottom bracket height. Frame features include a tapered head
tube (1-1/8 to 1-1/2in), press-fit BB92 bottom bracket, direct-mount front
derailleur, 135 QR dropouts ...
